MEDIA Initial training

MEDIA Initial training aims to encourage exchanges and cooperation between film / audiovisual schools and universities and the audiovisual industry. This should contribute to the networking and mobility of students and trainers in Europe, and facilitate the integration of students in the professional sector.

MEDIA Initial Training Conference 21/22 March 2011 Brussels, Belgium
Future Challenges and Funding Opportunities for Film and Audiovisual Schools and Universities in Europe

The MEDIA unit of the Education Audiovisual Culture Executive Agency organised an Initial Training Conference on 21/22 March 2011 that brought together more than 160 people representing higher education institutions – including most of national film schools from across Europe – and private sector companies. The conference was an occasion to present all the EU instruments for mobility and university collaboration in- and outside Europe. Key challenges and opportunities to collaborate for film and AV schools/universities in Europe where discussed. Four panels explored topical issues such as the potential of 3D technique; the complexity of making European TV series ' co-productions; possibilities intrinsic to new media as a new way of telling stories; problems and good practices related to students' integration in the professional world.
