European Film Promotion (EFP)
MEDIA funding: €766 000

The action encompasses a range of 5 promotional activities organized in countries outside MEDIA:
1. "Film Sales Support (FSS)" is a support mechanism for European sales agents and producers who actively promote and sell their European films at a selection of international film festivals and/or markets.

2. Additional activities at the Toronto IFF (Canada), consisting mainly in networking activities for European professionals within the festival.

3. Additional activities at the Pusan IFF (South Korea), providing the presence of European talent and an operational base for professionals at the Asian film Market.

4. Umbrella Office at the American Film Market (Los Angeles, USA) and attendant services at the festival for European sales companies.

5. EFP Industry Screenings in the USA, taking place twice a year, each session showing local distributors European films with commercial potential.

For 2009, for the FSS, EFP is targeting the following festivals:

Sundance IFF, Park City (USA) in January

Guadalaraja (Mexico) in March

FILMART in Hong Kong (China) in March

Shangai IFF (China) in June

Toronto IFF (Canada) in September

Rio de Janeiro IFF (Brazil) in September/October

Pusan IFF (South Korea) in October

AFM in Los Angeles (USA) in November

Europa Cinemas

MEDIA funding: €650 000

The action consists in a support towards the effective and concrete commercialization of European films in non MEDIA countries. The mechanism revolves around a financial support to the local distributors towards distribution and promotional costs of European films, such as costs related to the copies/prints (purchase, copy, transport), the subtitling and dubbing of films, production of promotional and advertising material, publication costs, RP costs and transport and accommodation/subsistence costs of the professionals/talents linked to the films.

European Producers Club

MEDIA funding: €88 000

The action consists in the implementation of 2 co-operation forums in the following locations:

1. Sochi (Russia), at the occasion of the Sochi International Film Festival in June

2. Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), at the Rio International Film Festival in October.

The co-operation forums are composed of pre-arranged one-to-one meetings, round-tables and conferences on the local system of financing and of co-production, as well as screening of European films to local distributors and sales agents.
