MEDIA Training

MEDIA Training (2001-2006): training programme for professionals in the European audiovisual industry.

MEDIA Training, adopted by decision 2001/163/CE in January 2001, is part two of the third generation of the MEDIA Programme (2001-2005). With a budget of €50 million for 2001-2005, MEDIA Training was extended until 2006 by decision 2004/845/CE, and the budget increased to €59.4 million in the light of EU expansion.
MEDIA Training (2001-2006) continues the work of MEDIA II Training (1996-2000). The aim of the programme is to improve further vocational training for professionals in the audiovisual sector to make the European industry more competitive.

It focuses on:

  • improving knowledge of new technologies for producing and distributing audiovisual programmes;

  • teaching business, management and legal skills;

  • promoting script-writing and narration techniques.

  • Training workshop photoIt encourages online training, innovative teaching methods and cooperation between the various operators in the audiovisual industry. Exceptionally, initial (as opposed to ongoing) training for professionals will be eligible for support if it does not receive any other EU or national funding.
    Cooperation and the exchange of know-how between training establishments and businesses will also be promoted. Particular attention is given to the development of the audiovisual industry in regions with a low production capacity and/or a restricted geographical or linguistic area, as well as to independent small and medium-sized businesses.
