General presentation of the Distribution support
MEDIA encourages the circulation of European audiovisual works among the different countries participating in the programme.
Support is given to distributors of European films, European sales agents and publishers of European DVDs.
The following financial backing is available:

automatic and selective support to distributors and sales agents

There used to be a support for the publishing of DVDs (through VHS/DVD support) which has been cancelled during 2006.
MEDIA also supports the distribution of European audiovisual works at two other levels:

support for cinemas (to encourage networking of cinemas screening European films)

support for television broadcasting
Croatia becomes the latest member of the MEDIA Programme
- A memorandum of understanding was signed with Croatia on 17 March 2008.
- Croatian companies and films will be eligible for support.
- Projects submitted will be evaluated normally but contracts will not be signed until a number of technical issues have been resolved.
- The guidelines remain valid as published.
