Overview

MEDIA Mundus has a budget of EUR 15 million from 2011-13. It aims to explore ways of reinforcing global cooperation between EU and non-European professionals from the audiovisual industry to their mutual benefit.
Funding is available for projects proposed and implemented jointly by European professionals and professionals from any other country. In principle, each project needs to have a minimum of three partners. MEDIA Mundus is not based on the participation of governments. It is open to participation of professionals from all over the world.
The current programme focuses on training, facilitating market access, i.e. the search for partners for co-productions and distribution, and encouraging international sales, promotion, circulation and exposure of audiovisual works worldwide on all possible distribution platforms.
In early 2011, the European Commission launched an online consultation on the future of the MEDIA Mundus Programme.
MEDIA Mundus was preceded by a preparatory action known as MEDIA International.
