MEDIA encourages the circulation of European audiovisual works among the different countries participating in the programme. Financial backing is available in the form of automatic and selective support to distributors and sales agents.
MEDIA also supports the distribution of European audiovisual works through support to encourage networking of cinemas screening European films and support for television broadcasting.
The aim is to encourage European distributors to invest in the co-production and distribution of films from other European countries.
Selective support is for groups of at least five European companies distributing a European film outside its home country.
This support is for networks of cinemas screening European films, not individual operators. If you are an individual operator, you can contact the cinema network supported under the previous call: Europa Cinemas
Following a Commission decision on 31 October 2006, Call for proposals 14-2005: Support for the transnational distribution of European films and audiovisual works on VHS/DVD was cancelled.
Support for sales agents aims to encourage and support wider transnational distribution of European films and links between the distribution and production sectors in order to improve the market exposure of European films.
