Info-day on the European Capitals of Culture: Share your experience on 5 May in Brussels
The Commission will hold an information day on the European Capitals of Culture for all cities which are interested in bidding for the title in the future.

Info Days - Culture Programme (2007 – 2013) in May and June - Brussels, Barcelona, Vilnius
Get informed about funding opportunities under the Culture Programme. Conditions have been simplified with the introduction of a Programme Guide, published mid June 2008.

Culture and Creation, factors of development: 2-3 April, Brussels
The European Commission is organising the above conference as a platform for debate, analysis and exchange of views aiming to identify new solutions to strengthen future EU actions in the fields of culture and development.

Forum for Creative Europe: 26-27 March, Prague
The notion of creativity will be debated and illustrated in three thematic sessions: Arts, Culture, Economy and Creative Ecologies; Creativity and Society; and Creativity and Education.

Mobile Lab Theatre

News from projects funded under the Culture Programme
"Mobile lab for theatre and communication (2007-2009)" Lead organiser: New Theatre Institute of Latvia, festival Homo Alibi, Latvia.
This project promotes understanding of contemporary theatre in Europe by developing a dialogue between artists, programmers and audiences on contemporary artistic expression and the complex world in which we live. Events planned this spring include the Cracow Theatrical Reminiscences, April 20-26, 2009 and the IETM Spring plenary meeting in Bratislava, April 23-26, 2009.

CALLS FOR PROPOSALS

Cultural Cooperation Projects with and in Third Countries - Deadline: 01 May
For the special action in 2009, the European Commission proposes to concentrate on the EU Neighbourhood and the eligible countries are: Armenia, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Jordan, Moldova, occupied Palestinian Territory and Tunisia.

Artists Mobility - Deadline: 15 May
At the end of 2008, the European Parliament voted a new budget line on the 2009 budget of the European Union for the continuation of the Pilot Project on Artist Mobility.

European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2009
On 7 May 2009 the winner of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture/Mies van der Rohe Awards will be announced during a press conference at the winning building chosen by the Jury. The Award ceremony will take place in Barcelona on 9 May 2009 at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion

European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage
In The Hague, the Netherlands, the Juries selected 28 Medal winners from the 138 submitted applications. From these the winners of the six 2009 European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards will be selected and made public during a ceremony which will take place in the Teatro Antico in Taormina in Sicily, Italy on 5 June 2009.
