What's happening in Poland?

Cultural operators from Poland submitted in 2009 17 out of a total of 749 applications for funding under the Culture Programme. 7 of these applications were successful (of a total of 256). Overall, 29 organisations across the country were active as partners in other European projects.


In 2008, 31 out of a total of 819 applications were submitted. 7 of these applications were successful (of a total of 264).  Overall, 45 organisations across the country were active as partners in other European projects.

Did you know that…

Polish author, Mr Jacek Dukaj, was one of the recipients of the European Union Prize for Literature 2009 with LÓD, (ICE) (2007), published by Wydawnictwo Literackie?

Mr Dukaj received his prize together with the other prize winners on 28 September 2009 during the award ceremony in Brussels, attended by the President for the European Commission Mr Barroso and the Patron of the 2009 prize Henning Mankell.

The Prize consists of an award to an emerging talent from each of the participating countries in 2009, 2010 and 2011 respectively. In 2010 the following countries will participate: Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Finland, Luxembourg, F.Y.R.O. Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia and Spain.
