The Chinese Academy of Science, CSHST, CAST are co-organizing with the Hellenic Open University of Greece, under the auspices of the UNESCO, the 13th International Conference on the History of Science in China for the first time outside China, in Athens, and in honour of Greece. There is going to be a parallel event, the first of its kind, sponsored by UNESCO, on the Interaction of the two Civilizations in the field of Science and Technology.

Both events are taking place for the first time and will promote the intercultural, Euro-Chinese study of science, philosophy and technology at an international level.

The goal of these twin Academic Conferences is to establish a permanent relation between China and Greece and China and other European countries in promoting the study of science, philosophy and technology in East and West. It will be forging permanent relations between China and the EU on the academic level and will initiate the signing of Memoranda for the cooperation between EU Countries and China in academic matters, research and scientific exchange and cooperation.
