Exhibition: "Bronzes and jades of ancient China in the Collection José de Guimarães"

The exhibition gathers more than 100 objects of great historic and artistic value, from Neolithic Age (c. 8500 to 2000 B.C.) to the Han dynasty (202 B.C - 220), of the "Collection José de Guimarães". They illustrate technical and stylistic evolution in the use of bronze and jade, considered the most precious materials, from which ritual objects were made, as well as objects for everyday use and ornaments, that reflected the power, the social or spiritual statute in ancient China.
The exhibition will enable Portuguese visitors to learn more about Chinese culture and its history, through objects of great historical and artistic value that illustrate the capabilities and expertise of the Chinese people. It will allow also a better knowledge of Chinese beliefs and spirituality, their society and customs in a long period of time in its history.
