International multi-stakeholder product safety forum
The International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organisation (ICPHSO)
is an international forum for stakeholders in the public and private sectors with an interest in consumer product safety. ICPHSO has held annual
meetings and training symposia in North America for many years. In 2004, 2005 and 2006 ICPHSO held its first meetings in Europe. These meetings
brought together high-level participants from the EU, the US, China and Canada. The 2006 meeting in Brussels
also included participants from countries such as Australia and Japan. The next meeting is planned for 18 & 19 November 2008 in Brussels, Belgium.
This ICPHSO conference will be one of the cornerstones of the International Product Safety Week
hosted by the European Commission.
In May 2007, the International Consumer Product Safety Conference was held for the first time in Beijing, China. The European Commissioner for Consumers, Mrs Meglena Kuneva, addressed the Conference by a video-message. The Director-General of DG SANCO, Mr Robert Madelin and the Head of the Product and Services Safety Unit of DG SANCO, Mr Stefano Soro also gave speeches.
