International Product Safety Week 2012

Consumer safety is one of the highest priorities of the European Commission, especially with the globalisation of supply chains and the constant evolution of the markets. The EU works closely with its main trading partners to ensure safety at source, no matter where the product is produced.

This year the Commission is hosting the International Product Safety Week in Brussels from 15 - 19 October 2012.

A series of events will gather non-food, consumer product safety professionals and stakeholders from around the globe, representing regulators, industry, consumer organisations, standard-makers and test laboratories.

Highlights of the week

• PROSAFE workshop on Joint Actions and Best Practices;
• International Consumer Product Health & Safety Organisation's international symposium;
• RAPEX-CHINA Working Group meeting between the EU and China (participation restricted to EU and Chinese regulators – by invitation only);
• The International Consumer Product Safety Caucus will bring together regulators from all over the world (participation restricted to regulators – by invitation only);
• Official launch of the global portal on product recalls of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and press conference.
