Enforcement authorities in the Member States play the most important role in ensuring consumers' rights, both at national and cross-border levels.
Cooperation between these authorities takes place among others in a form of the European enforcement network, so called CPC Network.
Every year, the Network identifies common enforcement priorities and carries out specific activities, for example Sweeps - systematic check carried out simultaneously in different Member States to investigate breaches of consumer protection law in the particular on-line sector.
Another important enforcement tool at the EU level is the Injunctions Directive. It ensures that each Member State has in its legal order a court or administrative procedure aiming at stopping infringements where collective interests of consumers are at stake.
