Campaign: Consumer Challenge Quiz
Organiser: Birmingham Trading Standards
The "Consumer Challenge Quiz" was developed by Birmingham Trading Standards in order to help young people with learning difficulties to become better informed and more confident consumers. The children were given practical examples of every-day consumer problems and had to work in a team to agree on the solution. This quiz, which has been very well received, targets a group of people who normally do not benefit from other information campaigns. It has led to more confident children applying the acquired knowledge to resolve problems in their dealings with shops. As a result, the children know where to obtain help when they encounter consumer problems and they also showed higher self-esteem and better social skills as a result of what they learned.
