Campaign: "It's your money"

Organiser: Financial Regulator

With the ever-increasing complexity of financial services and growing risks that people are faced with in their personal finance choices, it is vital that consumers fully understand what they are buying and what their rights are. However, many feel intimidated or confused by financial jargon, and do not know how to get reliable, independent information on details related to personal finance products. Therefore, the Financial Regulator organised a campaign around a new personal finance website, with the aim of raising awareness among consumers of the costs, risks and benefits of financial products and to help consumers make informed decisions in the area of personal finance. The launch of the website was accompanied by TV, radio, internet and poster advertisements. In addition, proactive publicity activities such as press briefings, press releases and feature articles resulted in good press coverage and requests for follow-up interviews. The campaign helped consumers to understand what they are buying and to compare products, to know and exercise their rights and to have a source to turn to with questions or problems.
