In context of the CosIng database; the term substance covers any substance/preparation regulated by the Cosmetic Directive; in particular in its Annexes.
The term INGREDIENT covers any substance/ preparation assigned with an INCI-name.

• Under "Directives" can be found the List of Directives amending the Cosmetic Directive in relation to substances.
• Under "Annexes" can be found the List of Annexes providing an overview of Annexes established by the Cosmetics Directive.
• Under "Functions" can be found the List of Functions with a description of the functions assigned to ingredients
• Under "Abbreviations" can be found abbreviations, which can be used in the INCI names of ingredients.
