International cooperation
“What about the safety of products manufactured outside of the EU?”
The European Commission is also working with non-EU countries to help them ensure that their products meet EU standards. One example is the 2006 agreement between China and the EU to cooperate towards safer products, especially toys. Such cooperation is a win-win situation — it allows European consumers to have a wider choice of good-quality products and it helps non-EU countries to gain access to the biggest single market in the world.
