Why has the Commission decided to issue Guidance on the application of the Directive?

Who is this Guidance intended for?

The Guidance is primarily intended for national enforcement authorities, consumer associations, traders, trade associations and other professional stakeholders. The Commission has produced a consumer-friendly brochure explaining the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive and a user-friendly website for consumers providing examples and illustrations of the commercial practices covered by the Directive. However, the Guidance may also be useful for those consumers who seek clarification on the more technical aspects relating to the application of the Directive to real cases.
