    On 6 September 2012 Commission officials carried out unannounced inspections at the premises of several providers of maritime transport services for cars and construction and agricultural rolling machinery.

  • Commission approves acquisition of joint control over EFW by EADS and Singapore Technologies in aircraft sector
    14 September 2012
    The Commission has cleared the proposed acquisition of joint control over Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW) by EADS Deutschland and aircraft maintenance provider Singapore Technologies Aerospace (STA). EFW is currently solely owned by EADS. The Commission concluded that the transaction would not raise competition concerns because it would not significantly alter the market structure.

  • Commission temporarily approves rescue recapitalisation of Cyprus Popular Bank
    13 September 2012
    The Commission has temporarily approved a rescue recapitalisation worth €1.8 billion that Cyprus granted to Cyprus Popular Bank for reasons of financial stability. The Commission found the measure to be in line with EU state aid rules because it is limited to the minimum necessary and provides safeguards to minimise distortions of competition. The Commission will take a final decision on the measure in the context of the assessment of the bank's restructuring plan, to be submitted within six months.

  • Case T-565/08 Corsica Ferries France / Commission
    11 September 2012
    The General Court ruled on an appeal by Corsica Ferries against a Commission decision of 2008 authorising French recapitalisation and privatisation measures in favour of Société Nationale Corse - Méditérrannée (SNCM). The Court annulled the Commission decision.
