  • Commission clears mobile commerce joint venture between Telefónica UK, Vodafone UK and Everything Everywhere

    The Commission has approved the proposed creation of a joint venture between Vodafone, Telefónica and Everything Everywhere in the field of mobile commerce in the UK. The market investigation revealed in particular that a number of alternatives already exist and more are very likely to emerge in the near future to ensure adequate competitive pressure on the joint venture's mobile wallet platform.

  • Commission approves acquisition of Volvo Aero by rival GKN
    3 September 2012
    The Commission has cleared the proposed acquisition of Volvo Aero of Sweden by GKN of the UK. The Commission's investigation focussed on the overlaps between the parties' activities in the production of certain aircraft engine components. The investigation confirmed that the proposed transaction would not significantly reduce the supply options available to customers of these components.

  • Commission opens proceedings against Gazprom
    4 September 2012
    The Commission has opened formal proceedings to investigate whether Gazprom, the Russian producer and supplier of natural gas, might be hindering competition in Central and Eastern European gas markets, in breach of EU antitrust rules.
