  • Commission approves acquisition of beer brewer Starbev by international brewing company Molson Coors
    6 June 2012
    The Commission has cleared the proposed acquisition of StarBev Holdings, registered in Luxembourg and headquartered in the Czech Republic, by the US based Molson Coors Brewing Company, both active in the brewing and distribution of beer. The Commission's investigation confirmed that the proposed operation did not raise competition concerns because it would not significantly alter the market structure.

  • Commission approves acquisition of Dutch pipe systems manufacturer Wavin by Mexican PVC producer Mexichem
    4 June 2012
    The Commission has cleared the proposed acquisition of Wavin, a Dutch manufacturer of pipe systems, by Mexichem Soluciones Integrales Holding of Mexico. The Commission's investigation confirmed that the proposed transaction would not raise competition concerns because the merged entity would continue to face sufficient competition.

State aid

  • Commission temporarily approves increase of refinancing guarantee for Dexia SA and DCL and extends investigation
    6 June 2012
    The Commission has approved a €10 billion increase of the ceiling of a temporary guarantee granted by Belgium, France and Luxembourg to cover the refinancing needs of Dexia SA and DCL. The ceiling is thus raised to a maximal amount of €55 billion. The Commission has temporarily approved the measure until 30 September 2012 in order to preserve financial stability and will take a final decision on its compatibility with EU state aid rules when it has finalised its assessment of Dexia's resolution plan.

  • Case T-214/06 Imperial Chemicals Industries / Commission
    5 June
    The General Court ruled on an appeal by Imperial Chemicals Industries plc (ICI) against a Commission decision of May 2006 fining several companies for operating a cartel in the markets for methacrylates. The General Court dismissed the appeal and entirely upheld the Commission's decision.

  • C-124/10 P Commission / EDF
    5 June 2012
    The Court of Justice ruled on an appeal by the Commission against a CFI judgment annulling a Commission decision of 2003 regarding certain measures granted by the French State in favour of EDF. The Court dismissed the appeal and confirmed the earlier judgment.
