The Forum d'Avignon brings together key players from arts & culture, business and politics. At the 2010 Forum on 6 November, Ms Vassiliou underlined the importance of culture in the EU. She said: "Culture contributes to economic and social development; it creates jobs and growth in cities and regions, sparks innovation in other sectors, and unlocks creative thinking. But it also broadens our horizons, gives us fresh eyes to understand our own lives and those of others."
