Androulla Vassiliou, Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, will open the 2013 EU Studies Fair in Brussels tomorrow morning. The fair, now in its 14th year, brings together around 400 prospective students and representatives of universities and the EU institutions. The Commissioner will make a brief address (10:30am) in which she is expected to reaffirm the importance of equipping young people with high quality and relevant skills, as well as the need for further modernisation in higher education institutions. The Commission's proposed new programme for education, training, youth and sport, Erasmus for All, is currently under discussion by the European Parliament and the Council. The Commission hopes to significantly increase the number of young people receiving EU grants to study, train or volunteer abroad.
