Antonio Tajani awarded with the Medal of the Royal Institute of European Studies
Strasbourg, Tuesday, April 17 - The European Commission Vice President Antonio Tajani, responsible for Industry and Entrepreneurship, has been honoured for his actions in favour of SMEs and EU integration by the Spanish Royal Institute of European Studies.
The medal of "Real Instituto" has been awarded to Vice President Tajani by MEP Jaime Mayor Oreja, former Minister of Interior in the Spanish government led by Aznar.
Among the reasons for the award, the "distinguished contribution to the process of European integration" and, in particular, "strong support to SMEs, key for growth", which has been provided by Tajani during his term as Commissioner, as well as MEP.
The award, given annually, is reserved for eminent personalities who have distinguished themselves for their activities in favour of Europe and its citizens.
While receiving the award Tajani said: "I am honoured by this recognition that gets a special meaning, as it is given by a country like Spain, which has strongly supported European political integration and whose business basis is made up by SMEs."
