European Commission to reinforce industrial co-operation between Japan and the EU
Today and tomorrow's meeting of the EU Japan business round table in Rome is focussing on the reinforcement of economic and commercial relations between the EU and Japan.
The business ties between both regions are good, but they could be better, if a level playing field with same access on the respective markets would be established. Therefore the EU delegation led by European Commission Vice President Antonio Tajani wishes to see Japan tackling its non-tariff measures, open its market to Foreign Direct Investments and its public procurements to European industry.
The meeting will also discuss improved cooperation in fields of common interest, such as access to raw materials, space and innovation policies. Moreover, Antonio Tajani will offer the setting up of an innovation partnership with Japan. Other important topics will be covered, including business in China, ageing populations and energy policies.
