- More systematic approach to fighting fraud against the EU budget: whole "anti-fraud cycle", i.e. from the prevention and detection of fraud at an early stage to investigations, sanctioning and recovery of misused funds;

- Targeted actions in a coherent plan to fight against smuggling of cigarettes and alcohol along the EU Eastern border, such as trained mobile units and new equipment at the border, reviewing the way customs penalties currently apply, stepping up activities with Eastern neighbours more.

Administrative Cooperation in the Field of Excise Duties

- Cooperation between customs and tax authorities and other parties, to help maximise their efficiency and avoid mismatches. Particular focus - fighting fraud, reducing administrative burdens and cooperating with third countries more;

- Programmes to fight fraud and corruption by providing technical and operational support for law enforcement authorities in the Member States, professional training activities;

- Exchange, assistance and training programme to strengthen the protection of euro banknotes and coins in Europe and worldwide, more;

- Computerising information exchange between Member States on the movement of excise products, speeding up the collection of the duties, more.

 

HIGHQUALITY STATISTICS IN EUROPE

European Statistical Programme

- Ensuring reliable, comparable and cost-effective statistics in the years ahead;

- Budget for Member states to support the implementation of the Programme at national level, more.

 

AUDIT AND DISCHARGE:VALUE FOR MONEY

Discharge

- Improving the quality and impact of the internal audit work -  improving the performance of the EU budget spending;

- Drawing lessons from the Court of Auditors and the discharge authority recommendations and turning them into concrete measures;  

- The management and control of the EU Budget becomes more effective and less costly;
