Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič welcomes updated co-operation with European Economic and Social Committee

On Wednesday 22 February, Vice-President Šefčovič welcomed the signing of a revised Protocol of Co-operation between the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) which provides a bridge between Europe and organised civil society. The new agreement updates relations in light of the Lisbon Treaty, takes on board new co-operation practices and simplifies procedures. Vice-President Šefčovič said: "This revised Protocol is a clear demonstration of the excellent co-operation which exists between our two organisations."
Visit to Ireland: EU careers, financial crisis and ECI on the agenda

Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič begins a two-day visit to Ireland on Thursday where his busy agenda will include meetings with both houses of the Oireachtas, a discussion on the EU response to the crisis and a debate on the forthcoming European Citizens' Initiative.

Podpredseda Maroš Šefčovič v piatok navštívil College of Europe v belgických Bruggách s cieľom diskutovať o dosahu Lisabonskej zmluvy na tvorbu politiky EÚ po dvoch rokoch od jej účinnosti.
Vo svojom vystúpení sa sústredil na prínosy novej zmluvy v oblasti spolupráce a koordinácie medzi rozličnými inštitúciami EÚ a najmä na to, ako sa tento nový postup osvedčil pri riešení súčasnej hospodárskej a finančnej krízy.

Hlavnými bodmi návštevy podpredsedu Maroša Šefčoviča v bulharskom parlamente, ktorá sa uskutočnila 9. februára, boli voľný pohyb pracovníkov, rozšírenie schengenského priestoru a mechanizmus spolupráce a overovania na hodnotenie pokroku krajiny v oblasti reformy súdnictva a ďalších reforiem.
