EC´s Security Symposium

Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič attended the 6th edition of the European Commission´s Security Symposium which took place in Brussels on 20th of October 2011.  Reflecting the title of the Symposium " Security - Old and New Challenges", the Vice-President pointed out a dynamic nature of the security challenges we currently face.

New threats, such as cyber attacks and social unrest related to economic difficulties, are on the rise and it is clear that a high level of security must be ensured if the Commission is to discharge its responsibilities to its staff, stakeholders and external partners, said Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič.

The Security Symposium continued with various lectures made by external speakers on a broad range of topics to give the participants a global overview of the evolving security environment .

The Symposium was organised for all security personnel of the European Institutions, Agencies, and the Member States Permanent Representations as well as for National Security Authorities. More than 250 participants registered for the 6th edition of the Security Symposium.
