28/11/2012 - Our blueprint – mapping Europe's future

Today the European Commission presented its vision for the future of the European Union – a blueprint for a deep and genuine Economic and Monetary Union.

Vice-President Viviane Reding said: "This is an ambitious but realistic document that shows where we can and should go in the next 5-6 years. Our destination is clear:  if we want to preserve and strengthen Europe's position in the world, we need to turn our Economic and Monetary Union into a strong European Political Federation with a Monetary, Fiscal and Banking Union."


14/11/2012 - Women on Boards: Commission proposes 40% objective

Over the last decade, despite an intense public debate and some voluntary initiatives, little has changed to improve the gender balance in boardrooms across Europe. Today the European Commission is proposing legislation to accelerate progress, in a move which responds to strong calls from the European Parliament for action.


06/11/2012 - Court of Justice rules Hungarian forced early retirement of judges incompatible with EU law

On the request of the European Commission, the Court of Justice of the European Union today ruled that the abrupt and radical lowering of the retirement age for judges, prosecutors and notaries in Hungary violates EU equal treatment rules.
