Commission achieves change of Free Movement legislation in France

Viviane Reding © EU

France responded positively to the Commission's request to deliver a swift and full transposition into French law of the procedural rights contained in the EU Free Movement Directive. This is a good development because procedural safeguards serve to protect EU citizens against arbitrary, discriminatory or disproportionate decisions. It also proves the good functioning of the European Union as a Community governed by the rule of law.
