Speech by President Barroso at the Government and Innovation Summit
President Barroso spoke today at the Government and Innovation Summit organised by Ernst & Young.
He underlined that boosting innovation is a strategic priority of the European Commission. That is why it created the Innovation Union 'flagship initiative' which aims at creating the conditions for a more innovative and thus more competitive and prosperous Europe.
The President highlighted the importance of completing the Single Market in digital goods and services: 60% of the actions proposed in the EU's Digital Agenda will be completed at the end of 2012. Key forthcoming proposals will address cloud computing, roaming and Internet security.
