6th EU-China Energy Dialogue, 21 November, Beijing


During the 16th EU-China Summit, EU energy ministers and Chinese ministers gathered on 20 November in Beijing for the 6th Energy Dialogue. In this first dialogue with the new Chinese leadership, we exchanged views on how to best meet new energy policy challenges, in particular the need to ensure security of supply, the importance of a market-based response, and the strategic reform in our energy systems that is needed to integrate a growing share of renewables. At the Smart City Forum, the Urbanisation Forum and during bilateral meetings, we discussed innovative solutions to tackle the challenges posed by urbanisation, and our cooperation on low-energy buildings. Finally, I attended an EU-China business summit, where we discussed opportunities for ensuring a healthy growth in bilateral trade and investment, in particular, in the energy sector.
