Commissioner Hedegaard to hold climate talks in Athens and Sofia
Connie Hedegaard, European Commissioner for Climate Action, will visit Athens on Thursday and Sofia on Friday for talks on climate policy with senior government representatives, parliamentarians and stakeholders.
In Athens Commissioner Hedegaard will have discussions with Environment, Energy and Climate Change Minister Konstantina Birbili and Fisheries Minister Ioannis Diamantidis. She will also address members of the Hellenic Parliament's special standing committee on European affairs and special permanent committee on environmental protection. In addition, Commissioner Hedegaard will make a presentation on climate policy to members of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises and have a meeting with non-governmental organisations.
In Sofia the Climate Action Commissioner will hold talks with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Environment Minister Nona Karadjova. Mrs Hedegaard will have a meeting with members of the Bulgarian Parliament's committee on environment and water and committee on European affairs and oversight of European funds. She will also participate in a lunch with representatives of non-governmental organisations and meet representatives of business associations.
