Almost EUR 126 million from EU regional funds for Polish urban transport projects

An investment of €125.8 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Cohesion Fund (CF) has been approved by the European Commission for two projects improving the urban transport systems in the tri-city metropolitan area of Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot and in the city of Rzeszów. The projects will improve travel conditions for commuters, make the cities’ public transport systems more accessible for users with reduced mobility and lead to a reduction in pollution. This greener public transport will have a positive impact on residents’ quality of life.

Commenting on the decision, Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn said “Those two projects are tangible examples of how EU investments can help to modernise the urban transport system, improve the mobility of Polish citizens, cut travel times, reduce pollution and ensure safe and sustainable transport conditions. Those projects will also make both regions more attractive to investors and its citizens.”
