Commissioner Hahn's visit in Latvia


On 30th March Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn went to Latvia where he met with Latvian Prime Minister Mr Valdis Dombrovskis and Latvian Minister for Environment and Regional Development Mr Edmunds Sprudzs to discuss the European Commission's proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework, the future Cohesion policy and the implementation the Baltic Sea Strategy by Latvia.

Also Latvia specific issues like the positive developments in dealing with interruptions of operational programmes, the use of financial instruments and the implementation of Commission President Jose Manuel Barrosso's initiative on young employment and Small and Medium-Sized enterprises have been discussed between Commissioner Hahn and Latvian Minister of Finance Mr Andris Vilks.

Thereafter Commissioner Hahn met with chairpersons of the Latvian Parliamentary committees as well as with Latvian stakeholders - Latvian Employers Confederation; Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Latvian Association of Local Governments; Latvian Association of Major Cities and Riga City Council – to exchange views on the future cohesion policy 2014-2020.
