Commissioner Hahn meets new Romanian government


Commissioner Johannes Hahn met the new Romanian prime minister Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu in Bucharest on 19 March to discuss how to improve the use of EU funds, to fully benefit of the allocated amount until the end of this funding period.

During the visit to Romania the Commissioner met also with the interministerial committee of all ministers responsible for handling funds and invididual ministers and the leaders of the opposition parties. Mr. Hahn announced the approval of two major railway projects with an EU participation of 771 million Euro, which will modernise over 100 kilometres of existing tracks, to enable passenger trains to reach a speed of 160 kilometres, opening parts of Romania for business opportunities.
