Commissioner Hahn to launch dialogue with European cities at the Urban Forum

Commissioner Johannes Hahn will be giving the opening speech at the first European Urban Forum on 16 February at 9.30 a.m. Commissioner Hahn wishes to launch a direct dialogue with Europe’s cities in order to discuss the place of urban development in the cohesion policy for 2014-2020 and the role of cities in contributing to recovery from the current economic crisis.
The Commission's proposed reforms on Cohesion Policy foresee a greater focus on cities as drivers of jobs and growth, and this conference is a first step to giving cities a greater voice.
Around 400 participants, including Mayors of EU cities (Amsterdam, Barcelona, Warsaw, Lisbon, Sofia, Bratislava, Manchester, Leipzig, Naples, Łódź, Roubaix, Turin and Dunkerque), representatives of urban networks and associations, as well as cities involved in various EU urban policy initiatives are expected to attend the European Urban Forum. You will be able to follow Commissioner Hahn's intervention via Webstreaming.
