Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva is in Dubai to take part in the Middle East's largest conference and exhibition on humanitarian aid and development issues. The conference takes place annually in the United Arab Emirates and this year is focussing on the role of women in humanitarian aid.
Regional and international experts, officials and aid workers will be taking part in workshops and panel debates focused on the impact of humanitarian crises on women - from food security and shelter, to gender-based violence, education and health. The Commissioner will deliver a keynote speech to the conference and will also hold a number of bilateral meetings.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) she will travel to Saudi Arabia to hold meetings with the Kingdom's authorities, the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation.
