Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva is in Bulgaria today, where she will participate in a conference organised by The Sofia Platform, a forum for dialogue between Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
The Commissioner will open the conference with a speech on the humanitarian crisis in Syria and its consequences and the efforts of the European Union to reach the victims with relief assistance.
To discuss the growing number of refugees from the Syria crisis in Bulgaria and the assistance of the EU to the Bulgarian authorities to cope with this problem, Commissioner Georgieva will meet with representatives of the Bulgarian government and the President of the country.
