Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva is in Austria where she is once again participating in the annual Alpbach Forum as she did last year (pictured here in 2012).
The European Forum Alpbach is the most important political and economic conference in Austria and is often called a "mini-Davos". Its modest ambitions are to emulate the World Economic Forum: to address science, politics, business and culture.
Established in 1945, the annual European Forum Alpbach brings together decision makers from Austria and beyond. A special focus is the Forum's fellowship programme, bringing over 500 international students to the Forum.
This evening the Commissioner will take part in a panel discussion with Valerie Amos, UN Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, on "New Ideas for a Fair Globalisation".
Tomorrow she will join European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso for a UN-EU seminar.
