21/04/2012  -

The European Commission is looking for your ideas and inspiration to name one of its most exciting new projects - the European Voluntary Humantiarian Aid Corps. Help us give this inspiring project a name worthy of its potential! Submit your proposals for the future programme's name until 18 May 2012 here:  www.name4volunteers.eu.

The Corps will offer Europeans the opportunity to engage in humanitarian operations in countries all over the world and to help communities in disaster-prone areas be better prepared for natural disasters or to prevent them when possible. The contribution of European volunteers will complement the work of professional humanitarian workers and local staff in the disaster stricken countries.

"This project inspires with its mission - to help young Europeans who want to  make a difference in the world. We have made good progress towards its creation - the very first European humanitarian volunteers have been trained and deployed during the pilot phase. Now, we are looking for an attractive name for this attractive project - and we want to hear your ideas," said Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva.

Everyone can submit ideas and suggestions online. All proposals will enter the discussion on the forum. Participants can then rate proposals and comment. A high-level jury chaired by Commissioner Georgieva will choose the final name based on the online discussions. The author of the winning name will be invited to Brussels to participate in the Corps's launch ceremony.
