Commissioner Georgieva will join Valerie Amos, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Co-ordinator, at the Palais des Nations to launch the annual Consolidated Appeals Process (CAP). The CAP is used by aid organisations to jointly plan, implement and monitor their activities. Working together in the world's crisis regions, they produce appeals, which they present to the international community and donors.
The CAP has fostered closer co-operation among governments, donors, and aid agencies, in particular United Nations agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The bulk of the Commission's humanitarian funding goes to projects launched through CAP.
