Coordination between European and national institutions and the priorities of the Commission for 2011 – these were the topics of today’s discussion between Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva and members of the Bulgarian National Assembly. Mrs Georgieva visited the parliament in her native Sofia, where she presented the working programme of the Commission for the months ahead and discussed with deputees the challenges and tasks in her own portfolio – International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response. The Commissioner reiterated the importance of dialogue and team-work between institutions in Europe and at the national level in their joint efforts to create jobs, stimulate economic growth and deliver on their promises to Europe’s citizens.
After meeting some of Bulgaria’s most experienced politicians, the Commissioner also engaged with their junior colleagues at the Bulgarian School of Politics. She gave a lecture on the challenges of adapting to a changing world, and encouraged aspiring political leaders to engage more actively in the formulation and implementation of Europe’s priorities.
