Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva's first overseas mission in her new role as Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response will take her to Haiti. She leaves Brussels on 28 February, returning on 4 March.
She will visit humanitarian projects in and outside Port-au-Prince, meeting local people affected by the earthquake, aid workers and Commission staff involved in the civil protection, relief and reconstruction effort. Commissioner Georgieva will also have official meetings with the Haitian authorities, the United Nations' Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).
