During his visit to Chișinău Commissioner Füle had also bilateral meetings with Moldovan counterparts. He met President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Natalia Gherman, and representatives of political parties and discussed the initialling of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement at the Vilnius Summit in November, and the short and long term implications and benefits for the citizens as well as the calendar for the visa liberalisation. In his meetings Commissioner Füle stressed:"Political stability is an invaluable asset which offers an opportunity to focus on reforms and concrete deliverables for the citizens. But the root causes of political instability remain to be addressed. This is a serious challenge for Moldova, for all citizens and for all parties - not only for those of the ruling coalition. Moldova should tackle these causes without delay, in the political as well as in the institutional spheres. Constitutional reform, deep judicial reform, the fight against corruption and improvement of the business climate are of the essence; they cannot wait any longer."
