Visiting Jordan to discuss bilateral cooperation and Syrian crisis
Brussels (31st May) - Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighburhood Policy Štefan Füle will visit Jordan on Monday and Tuesday to discuss the bilateral relations between the EU and the Hashemite Kingdom. He will be focusing on the latest developments in the region, impact of the Syrian crisis on Jordan and in the framework of bilateral cooperation on the progress in political and economic reforms.
Commissioner Füle will be received by the King Abdullah II and will hold talks with the Prime Minister and several members of the Government. He will also meet with representatives of the civil society and business community. On Tuesday Commissioner Füle will visit Zaatari refugee camp where he will inaugurate a school financed by the European Commission. He is expected to announce additional EU for Jordan to help it to deal with the influx of Syrian refugees and appreciate Jordan´s continuing generosity in hosting their increasing numbers. This will be the third visit of Mr Füle to Jordan since he took over the his portfolio as Commissioner responsible for the policy of the EU towards the neighbouring countries.
