EU enlargement on screen wins Silver in Cannes
A video promoting enlargement of the European Union has won Silver at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in the category of informational films. The Cannes Awards celebrate the best corporate films, on-line media and TV documentaries. Under the slogan 'So similar, so different, so European' the clip shows just how surprising and fascinating Southeast Europe can be. The region has undergone considerable changes in recent years. Stimulated by the perspective of EU membership, the countries of the Western Balkans and Turkey have been transforming their societies, implementing a series of thorough reforms and introducing European standards. Croatia, the best example of the transformative power of EU enlargement in the region, is set to become the 28th Member State on 1 July 2013.
The clip, produced by Mostra Communication, is part of a wider campaign of the European Commission to raise EU citizens' awareness about the countries that aspire to become members of the European Union. Apart from being posted on EU Tube and social media it was also screened earlier in the year in the cinemas in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Belgium and the UK.
