Civil society wants a stronger European Neighbourhood Policy. But "more conditional on the respect of Human rights"

"Civil society has become an indispensable actor in public governance. Your strong commitment, the constant action of your organisations in many areas close to citizens' concerns such as the human rights, the environment, social and economic development and many others deserve this recognition. Your point of view as witnesses and  actors of the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP), will be very helpful for us in the on-going review process", declared Štefan Füle, Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, at the opening of a meeting with representatives of civil society organisations held in Brussels on 5 November 2010. This meeting is part of the wide consultation process undertaken by the Commission in the framework of the ENP strategic review.
