EU-Croatia Accession Conference 30 June 2010

"Important challenges lie ahead of Croatia in the last phase of the negotiations: in particular the reforms of the judiciary and of the public administration, the need to fight against corruption at all levels." stated Commissioner Füle on the occasion of the Accession conference with Croatia on 30 June 2010 in Brussels. At the Accession conference, EU foreign ministers agreed to launch formal negotiations on Chapters 8 (Competition), 23 (Judiciary and Fundamental Rights) and 31 (Foreign, Security and Defence Policy) and to provisionally close a further two chapters with the country, bringing the number of provisionally closed Chapters to 20 of the 33 policy-related chapters of its accession talks.
