Commissioner Damanaki addressed the public and private stakeholders from all littoral states of the Black Sea during a Conference on Sustainable development of the Blue Economy in the region, on January 30th in Bucharest, Romania. In the framework of this conference, Commissioner Damanaki met with Romanian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Titus Corlatean. Together they participated in a joint press conference.
Commissioner Damanaki launched the "Inseparable" campaign on January 27th in Hamburg through a dedicated event focusing on eating, buying and selling sustainable fish. In the framework of this event she met with the German Parliamentary State Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries Dr. Maria Flachsbarth, MEP Ms Ulrike Rodust and M. Olaf Scholz, Mayor of Hamburg.
Commissioner Damanaki delivered a speech on January 15th in London during the pan-European Conference for EU reform organised by Open Europe & Fresh Start Project. Commissioner Damanaki participated in a panel entitled "EU reform is possible! Lessons to be learnt from EU Fisheries".
Commissioner Damanaki participated on January 10th, together with Commissioner Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, to the launch event of Horizon 2020 in Athens. she delivered a speech on the opportunities of this new Framework Programme for the period 2014-2020.
Commissioner Damanaki delivered a speech on January 9th in Athens, in the framework of the event on the 100 Greek agricultural products under Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Geographical Indication. The Commissioner was invited to participate in this event by Greek Minister of Agriculture M. Tsaftaris together with Commissioner Cioloş. The event was co-organised by the Permanent Representation of the European Commission in Athens, the Greek Ministry of Agriculture and Food as well as the National Agricultural Network of Greece.
Commissioner Damanaki delivered a keynote speech on Thursday January 23d at the Opening Ceremony of the exhibition "Nautilus: Navigating Greece" at Bozar, in Brussels. This exhibition dedicated to the sea and the relationship between the Greek people and the Mediterranean Sea over the centuries is organised in the framework of the Greek presidency of the European Council.
